| Sumario: | Septic arthritis in horses is a relatively common entity and is
considered as the most severe problem that a joint can be faced with, since the
inflammatory response to bacterial invasion may be severe enough to
cause irreversible damage to the articular cartilage, leading to permanent alterations of the
