Sumario:Forced disappearance in Colombia is one of the most serious and persistent crimes against humanity, marked by alarming levels of impunity despite a solid national and international legal framework. This paper examines the legal, political, and institutional obstacles that hinder the investigation and prosecution of this crime, as well as the limitations in the use of forensic technologies and interinstitutional coordination. It argues for the need of legal reforms aimed at ensuring the non-applicability of statutory limitations, enhancing specialized investigation, improving coordination between ordinary and transitional justice, and strengthening protection for victims and witnesses. Overcoming these shortcomings is essential to guarantee the rights to truth, justice, and comprehensive reparation, while contributing to historical memory and peacebuilding in Colombia.
