| description | This article presents a technological augmentation system for acoustic instruments and discusses, from a theoretical perspective, the role of new technologies within musical works and how they can redefine the boundaries of what we consider to be the musical work. We present a quick overview of the development of augmented instruments as part of the creative processes and propose an ontological model that helps placing technology and its development as part of the musical work. We present a characterisation of our low-cost augmentation system, which is adaptable to user requirements, either to facilitate its construction or to adapt to the creative needs of a work. We present the challenges and solutions encountered during the design and construction of this device, and discuss the potential that comes from developing an open system. Finally, we present our reflections on the potential future of the project. |

Este artículo presenta un sistema de aumentación en tecnología de instrumentos acústicos y se discute, desde una perspectiva teórica, cuál el papel que tienen las nuevas tecnologías dentro de la obra musical y cómo es que estas mismas pueden redefinir los límites de lo que consideramos como obra. Se presenta una retrospectiva del campo de desarrollo de los instrumentos aumentados como parte de procesos creativos, y se propone un modelo ontológico que ayuda a situar a la tecnología y su desarrollo como parte de la obra musical. Se ofrece una descripción general de nuestro sistema de aumentación de bajo costo, que tiene la característica de ser adaptable a los requerimientos del usuario, ya sea para facilitar su construcción o para adecuarse a las necesidades creativas de una obra. Se presentan desafíos y soluciones encontrados durante el diseño y construcción de este dispositivo, y se discute el potencial de desarrollar un sistema abierto. Finalmente se hace una reflexión sobre el potencial futuro del proyecto. Este artigo apresenta um sistema de ampliação para instrumentos acústicos e discute, sob uma perspectiva teórica, o papel das novas tecnologias em obras musicais e como essas tecnologias podem redefinir os limites do que constitui uma obra de arte. É apresentada uma retrospectiva do desenvolvimento de instrumentos aumentados como parte de processos criativos, e um modelo ontológico é proposto para auxiliar na compreensão da tecnologia e seu desenvolvimento dentro da obra musical. Uma descrição geral do nosso sistema de ampliação de baixo custo é fornecida, destacando sua adaptabilidade às necessidades do usuário, seja para facilitar a construção ou para atender às demandas criativas de uma peça. Os desafios e soluções encontrados durante o projeto e a construção deste dispositivo são apresentados, e o potencial para o desenvolvimento de um sistema aberto é discutido. Finalmente, o potencial futuro do projeto é considerado.
