Summary:Introduction: Oral diseases are the result of the accumulation of various risk factors such as sugar consumption, an unbalanced diet, poor and uncontrolled hygiene. Objective: Establish the oral health status (bacterial plaque, cavities, fluorosis) of the school population between the ages of 4 and 9 years at the Usme school, UAN. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out on 122 schoolchildren between 4 and 9 years old from the Usme School of the UAN. The Smiling Chameleon was used as an instrument to etermine the degree of knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health. In the same way, the Modified Silness & Löe, modified ICDAS II and DEAN indices were applied. A prior calibration was carried out for the application of the indices, then awareness was developed in the schoolchildren, the degree of severity was taken into account, according to age and sex.
