Sumario: | Ischemic coronary disease is a public health problem due to its high prevalence, which
is directly related to the increase in the longevity of populations and the high rate of
associated morbidity and mortality. It has been the leading cause of death in the last ten
years, both globally and in Colombia, mainly in the municipality of Pacora in the department
of Caldas. Most of the population in this municipality is adults and elderly, who are more
susceptible to suffering from preventable chronic diseases such as ischemic disease. The
main economic impact is due to emergency consults, chronic medication consumption, and
prolonged hospitalizations.
Regarding the high cardiovascular risk that the municipality of Pacora presents, since it
had the highest mortality rate for this disease in the department, it is of vital importance to
determine the factors associated with the increase in hospital costs secondary to the care of
ischemic disease in the municipal health institution. We aim to generate valuable
information to properly managing resources and decision-making in preventive health
programs and public health interventions. |
