| Sumario: | This Renovation project addresses issues related to public space, and the ways in which the population transforms these places according t o their needs, this research reveals that the uses that the inhabitants of Santander de Quilichao give to public space are related to factors social, standing out for its cultural diversity, its agricultural vocation and trade. The methodology that was a pplied to this research was based on two stages, the collection of data through secondary sources, and the carrying out of field work in order to complement the information through observation, indicating that unemployment generates in the population the d esire to find a way to survive, it is also possible to conclude that the central zone can be intervened through urban renewal strategies which will be developed through phases, each one under the theoretical concepts.
