Objective. Establish the prevalence of the dental abnormalities in pediatric patients who assisted
to the dental clinic of the Antonio Nariño University, Cucuta during the I-II period, 2019.
Materials and methods. It was a descriptive/ transversal study, in which 1087 dental pediatric
medical records were reviewed from the I-II semester of 2019 creating a file in Microsoft Excel
2016 with fundamental data. Subsequently. A sample of 995 dental medical records was selected
and analyzed. These accomplished the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thereafter frequencies and
percentages were obtained to finally elaborate the bar graphs and frequency tables.
Results. The prevalence of teeth pathologies in children from 2 to 16 years old attended at the
clinic of the Antonio Nariño University during the I-II period of 2019, which the 27% correspond
to 269 of 995 patients and the pathology with the most frequencies was the molar incisor
hypomineralization with 144 cases.
Conclusion. The prevalence of dental abnormalities in pediatric patients who assisted to the dental
clinic of the Antonio Nariño University-Cucuta was 27%, which the most frequent was the molar
incisor hypomineralization. Furthermore, it was noticed a higher prevalence of dental pathologies
in the male gender with a percentage of 28% (136) compared to the female 26% (133). |

Las patologías dentales son malformaciones congénitas por factores que afectan la forma, tamaño, estructura y calidad de los tejidos dentales durante el desarrollo del germen. Su presencia puede generar consecuencias que abarcan desde problemas funcionales hasta estéticos. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de las patologías dentales en pacientes pediátricos que asistieron a la clínica odontológica de la universidad Antonio Nariño sede Cúcuta durante los periodos I-II, 2019. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo/transversal. Se revisaron 1087 historias clínicas odontopediátricas de los semestres I-II del 2019, realizándose una ficha en Microsoft Excel versión 2016 consignando datos básicos. Posteriormente, se seleccionó y analizó una muestra de 995 historias clínicas que cumplían con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Seguidamente, se obtuvo frecuencias y porcentajes para finalmente elaborar los gráficos de barras y tablas de frecuencias. Resultados: La prevalencia de patologías dentales en niños de 2 a 16 años atendidos en la clínica de la universidad Antonio Nariño durante los periodos académicos I, II del 2019 fue del 27% correspondiente a 269 de 995 pacientes y la patología con mayor frecuencia fue la hipomineralización inciso-molar con 144 casos. Conclusión: La prevalencia de patologías dentales en pacientes odontopediatricos atendidos en la clínica de la universidad Antonio Nariño sede Cúcuta fue del 27%, siendo la más frecuente la hipomineralización inciso-molar. Además, se observó mayor prevalencia de patologías dentales en el género masculino con un porcentaje del 28% (136) comparado al femenino 26% (133).
