Summary:Dental abnormalities are congenital malformations due to factors that affect the shape, size, structure, and quality of dental tissues produced during the germ’s development. Its presence can generate consequences that include issues from functional to aesthetic problems. Objective. Establish the prevalence of the dental abnormalities in pediatric patients who assisted to the dental clinic of the Antonio Nariño University, Cucuta during the I-II period, 2019. Materials and methods. It was a descriptive/ transversal study, in which 1087 dental pediatric medical records were reviewed from the I-II semester of 2019 creating a file in Microsoft Excel 2016 with fundamental data. Subsequently. A sample of 995 dental medical records was selected and analyzed. These accomplished the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thereafter frequencies and percentages were obtained to finally elaborate the bar graphs and frequency tables. Results. The prevalence of teeth pathologies in children from 2 to 16 years old attended at the clinic of the Antonio Nariño University during the I-II period of 2019, which the 27% correspond to 269 of 995 patients and the pathology with the most frequencies was the molar incisor hypomineralization with 144 cases. Conclusion. The prevalence of dental abnormalities in pediatric patients who assisted to the dental clinic of the Antonio Nariño University-Cucuta was 27%, which the most frequent was the molar incisor hypomineralization. Furthermore, it was noticed a higher prevalence of dental pathologies in the male gender with a percentage of 28% (136) compared to the female 26% (133).
