La investigación consiste en una problemática que se presenta la laguna de Ubaque por la contaminación producto de aguas residuales domesticas de las viviendas más cercanas a esta, por lo que fue necesario realizar una investigación de sistemas centralizados para el tratamiento de aguas residuales domesticas que se pueda adaptar a la zona de estudio y así poder reducir la carga contaminante que esta produce en la laguna. En relación con esta problemática se consultó diferentes sistemas de recuperación de aguas que existen en el mercado y se evaluó su proceso de tratamiento, sus características, ventajas y desventajas. Y de acuerdo con el reconocimiento de la zona de estudio se determinó la elaboración de un tanque séptico anaeróbico con proceso de separación de grasas, degradación de lodos sedimentables, sedimentación de partículas más finas y una filtración ascendente.
