work developed by the teacher inside and outside the Llanero territory. This material becomes a
reference document since it narrates part of an identity, the richness and cultural diversity that is
alive in the Colombian plains and leaves as a vestige the characteristic features, in practice,
promotion and conservation of a cultural manifestation experienced by a cultivator and teacher
of the llanera dance.
To carry out this degree work, interviews were carried out with their high school
teachers, other participants in llaneros festivals and dance meetings, dance teachers, as well as
students from the llanera region and students from other regions of Colombia. This
autobiographical account allows us to remember everything lived, experienced and worked to
achieve the goals and purposes in the different stages of Jerci Tumay's life. To remember is to
relive and write down all these experiences, somehow, it becomes something very significant for
the master Jerci, because it is to reveal his steps, his processes and creative, competitive spaces
and all the experiences that led him to build his route as a joropo trainer, as a dancer and
contestant and the way in which he adapted to different contexts inside and outside the llanera
region |

To remember is to relive and write down all these experiences, somehow, it becomes something very significant for the master Jerci, because it is to reveal his steps, his processes and creative, competitive spaces and all the experiences that led him to build his route as a joropo trainer, as a dancer and contestant and the way in which he adapted to different contexts inside and outside the llanera region Este trabajo de grado pretende visibilizar de manera descriptiva la vida artística desde los inicios, los procesos de enseñanza, la participación en festivales y los encuentros de danzas del maestro Jerci Tumay Tabaco; el baile del joropo se convierte en la puerta para la construcción de su proyecto de vida, con un enfoque cualitativo, utilizando la entrevista como herramienta para la recolección de información a partir del trabajo artístico que desarrolló el maestro dentro y fuera del territorio llanero. Este material se convierte en un documento de referencia, ya que en él se narra parte de una identidad, la riqueza y la diversidad cultural que está viva en los llanos colombianos. Se deja como vestigio sus rasgos característicos, en la práctica, el fomento y la conservación de una manifestación cultural vivenciada por un cultor y maestro de la danza llanera. Para llevar a cabo este trabajo de grado se desarrollaron entrevistas a sus maestros de secundaria, a algunos participantes de festivales llaneros y encuentros dancísticos, a maestros de danza, así como a estudiantes de la región llanera y de otras regiones de Colombia. Este relato autobiográfico permite hacer memoria de todo lo vivido, lo experimentado y lo trabajado para alcanzar las metas y los propósitos en las diferentes etapas de vida de Jerci Tumay. Recordar es volver a vivir y dejar escritas todas estas vivencias, lo que de alguna manera se convierte en algo muy significativo para el maestro Jerci, ya que es develar sus pasos, sus procesos y espacios creativos, competitivos y todas las experiencias que lo llevaron a construir su ruta como formador de joropo, bailador y concursante, así como atravesar la forma en la que se adaptó a diferentes contextos dentro y fuera de la región llanera.
