RESULTS: The findings in people with acquired visual impairment, indicated affections at an emotional level, as in his feeling of the situation; which is expressed through different phases or episodes, being the result of the process of adaptation to disability visual. Depressive symptomatology was identified as the greatest consequence that derives from the emotional alterations manifested in said process which, in some way, affects and has repercussions on their quality and lifestyle, with suicide being the most extreme risk when suffering from it CONCLUSION: It is of great importance to have present the characteristics of a patient with visual impairment, not only at the dysfunctional, but psychological, because the emotional part is altered and they can Difficulties arise in achieving an optimal adaptation and rehabilitation process. |

OBJETIVO: Identificar las alteraciones en el estado emocional en pacientes con discapacidad visual adquirida. METODOLOGÍA: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica, en la cual se incluyó material educativo, clínico e informativo sobre el tema; documentos tipo artículo científico, revisiones teóricas o de casos clínicos, páginas web de organizaciones relacionadas y literatura de ciencias humanas y baja visión con publicación no mayor a 10 años de antigüedad, disponibles en bases de datos de la Universidad Antonio Nariño, ElSevier, E-Libro, SciELO, ScienceDirect, Sage Knowledge, PubMed y Google Académico. RESULTADOS: Los hallazgos en personas con discapacidad visual adquirida, indicaron afecciones a nivel emocional, al igual que en su sentir de la situación; lo cual se expresa por medio de diferentes fases o episodios, siendo el resultado del proceso de adaptación a la discapacidad visual. Se identificó a la sintomatología depresiva como la mayor consecuencia que deriva de las alteraciones emocionales manifiestas en dicho proceso lo que, de algún modo, afecta y repercute en su calidad y estilo de vida, siendo el suicidio el riesgo más extremo al padecerla CONCLUSIÓN: Es de gran importancia tener presente las características de un paciente con déficit visual, no solo a nivel disfuncional, sino psicológico, pues la parte emocional resulta alterada y pueden surgir dificultades en el logro de un óptimo proceso de adaptación y rehabilitación.
