Sumario:This research focuses on the strengthening of lexical competence from a didactic strategy focused on oral expression, since it is the most integral skill for the effective development of lexical competence in English, since it requires that the expression of what is thought and felt is carried out in an instant exchange of ideas with others. It is a qualitative, quasi-experimental research with a pre and post test, and a sample of 8 tenth grade students from a school in Chía, Cundinamarca. The research has 4 phases of development: the first, corresponds to the review of the state of the art, design and validation of level test as input and output test; the second is the implementation of the didactic strategy in which two themes (Idioms Describing people and Clothes Idioms) were used to address the problems of research, which allowed the use of lexical knowledge and vocabulary in communicative contexts; the third, concerning the application of the level test as an exit test; and the fourth phase, focused on the systematization of information. It is concluded that the lexical strengthening from oral interaction exercises between students allows the appropriation of lexical knowledge and vocabulary, which favors the learning of English, expressed in the improvement of linguistic skills.
