different developed settlements, which ultimately failed to offer them a good quality of life and a
continuity of their economic activities that depended on agriculture. On the other hand,
participatory architecture has proven to be useful when facing problems of this type where, after
an intervention and subsequent compensation, the needs of the affected people are not adequately
satisfied. In this way, the following research question is posed: ¿How would the implementation
of participatory architecture improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the Santiago
resettlement and palace in Garzón - Huila? |

El presente trabajo de investigación se desarrolla debido a unas de las problemáticas más importantes que enfrenta actualmente el departamento del Huila. El caso más reciente es la construcción del Embalse Hidroeléctrico El Quimbo propiedad de la multinacional Emgesa. El proyecto de la represa trajo dificultades de tipo económico, social, ambiental y cultural. Los campesinos afectados fueron reubicados en diferentes asentamientos desarrollados y que en ultimas estos no cumplieron con ofrecerles una buena calidad de vida y una continuidad de sus actividades económicas que dependían de la agricultura. Por otra parte, la arquitectura participativa ha demostrado ser útil a la hora de enfrentar problemáticas de este tipo donde después de una intervención y una posterior compensación, las necesidades de las personas afectadas no son satisfechas adecuadamente. De esta manera, se plantea la siguiente pregunta de investigación ¿Cómo la implementación de la arquitectura participativa mejoraría la calidad de vida de los habitantes del reasentamiento Santiago y palacio en Garzón – Huila?
