El café es una de las materias agrícolas más importantes de Colombia, siendo el primer producto en este campo en exportación, lo cual ha significado el sustento de miles de familias que en el territorio viven de esta labor, sin embargo, son muchas las problemáticas que este sector afronta, empezando por la tecnificación en los procesos productivos, la cual se ha quedado corta por la falta de espacios apropiados para implementar un proceso más sostenible, llevando a Colombia solo exportar la materia prima, principalmente en café pergamino seco, sin darle la oportunidad a pequeños caficultores de desarrollar un producto totalmente terminado.
