Descripción
Sumario:In the urban agriculture project Terrazas Verdes, the lack of control in the frequency of crop irrigation was recognized as a cause of dehydration, growth deficiency and loss of crop quality, evidencing the need for a low-cost irrigation system that propitiate an adequate development of agriculture within the cities. Therefore, this project was developed aiming at the automation of the irrigation system in urban agriculture modules through the use of a TUE-2(A) programmable relay. As a test crop, 2 modules of 50 lettuce seedlings were used. A quantitative analysis of the amount of lettuces harvested was carried out and a qualitative analysis taking into account the energy consumption, the implementation cost and the energy cost of the irrigation system compared to the benefits offered by the system. As a result, a 20% improvement in production performance was obtained, increase in the average weight of the crop and adequate control of relative humidity, with an automatic irrigation system with a low implementation and energy cost. The proposed system provides an effective mechanism to control irrigation in the cultivation modules and promote the distribution of nutrients to it.
