Sumario: | Introduction. In this research, it is intended to determine, through a narrative analysis of the
available literature, the relationship that exists between aerosols produced by dental practice
and the transmission of pathogens specifically SARS-CoV, SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV. In
dental procedures, the use of rotating instruments and a triple syringe creates a visible spray
or aerosol that mainly contains drops of water, saliva, blood, microorganisms; Likewise, the
production of aerosols by the use of high speed handpieces, sonic scalers, ultrasonics and
triple syringe is well documented in the dental literature (Bentley et al., 1994; Sacchetti et al.,
2006; Wood, 1992 ). |
