Description
Summary:The present research work, the design of a compactor was carried out to reduce the volume of organic and inorganic waste from the screening system of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of the Hernando Moncaleano Perdomo University Hospital in the city of Neiva. The objective of this work is to design a compactor to reduce the volume and weight of waste, since it has a large percentage of water. In order to improve the collection and storage processes and reduce the cost of disposal, since the company in charge of carrying out this work charges per kg collected. A bibliographic review was carried out which contributed significantly to the present investigation. In principle, the black box diagram was used and, in its requirements, the systems that made up the compactor were proposed. Using the brainstorming method, the most appropriate options were proposed and the decision criteria were established through the objective tree, finally the selection matrix was used where the best evaluated option was chosen. Through the calculations, the components, materials, powers, pressures, and compaction force required by the compactor were defined; For the structural simulation, the SOLIDWORKS software was used with the help of the simulation complement where a type of static study was used and a maximum deformation of 0.92 mm was obtained, a Von Mises stress of 153,355,488 𝑁/𝑚2 and a safety factor of 1.3.
