Según la disposición del plan de desarrollo de Girardot con respecto a la distribución de los tratamientos implementados para la ciudad, se precisa que la comuna 2 se encuentra en tratamiento de renovación, debido al estado de deterioro en que este se encuentra por no contar con una debida planificación urbana; por ello es importante analizar la evolución del sector en relación al rio Magdalena, pues la construcción de espacios urbanos integrando los elementos patrimoniales aledaños conlleva a la generación de crecimiento económico y socio-cultural.
