Para obtener la solución adecuada a problemas de automatización, es necesaria una estrategia de diseño que permita la selección de componentes y su adecuada integración para lograr el objetivo propuesto. Al estudiante de ingeniería en automatización de la universidad de La Salle, se le entregan los conocimientos de forma metódica, secuencial y estructurada con el fin de que este pueda manejar dichos conocimientos y pueda resolver problemas propios del sector productivo.
