Trastornos musculoesqueleticos Revisión literaria Active pauses, musculoskeletal disorders, review, workers, effectiveness. Propia Objective: to examine in scientific databases, articles on the effectiveness of active breaks in reducing the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders. Methodology: A review of the literature generated between 2010 and 2020 was carried out. 24 items were included because they met the inclusion criteria. Results: It was shown that most of the studies were conducted in 2016 (6 studies), with the study methodology controlled and randomized controlled trial (7 studies each) and the selected articles, were in English in its entirety (24 studies). Most of the active breaks were made to desktop workers, as well as mostly the results were favorable, however, not all active pauses were effective or showed a significant difference. Conclusions: active breaks contribute to the decrease in the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders, have positive effects on the state of health in general, concentration, productivity, job satisfaction and has to be accompanied by other strategies such as weight control, promotion of self-care, adaptation of the job, among others to be really effective.
