description Introduction: The dental follicle is a unique tissue composed of a condensation of ectomesenchymal cells that surrounds the dental germ in the early stages of tooth formation. Dental follicle cells can form the 3 types of tissues that make up the periodontium: periodontal ligament, cementum, and alveolar bone. Cytokeratins 13 and 19. Result: The results found in this study demonstrated the heterogeneity and cell culture capacity of dental follicle cells. The immunofluorescence assay demonstrated high expression of cytokeratin 19 and moderate cytokeratin 13. Conclusions: The found findings can explain from a basic point of view that this type of cells could differentiate to structurally similar epithelia such as oral mucosa and skin. In this study, the potential of dental follicle stem cells to differentiate into epithelial lineage was confirmed despite their mesenchymal nature and the expression of cytokeratins 13 and 19, being this the one with the highest expression.
