To generate an adequate treatment and by following the expectations of the patients, it is always necessary to consider their visual condition, to set possible and fixed goals, which can be achieved through the rehabilitation of low vision, blindness, and to improve ocular health.
Currently, it is essential, the delivery of information by the health professional since when a patient does not have an adequate understanding or knowledge of their visual condition, the possibility of success in the treatment to which they are going through may be affected.
All the alterations generated by an ocular condition that produce low vision and blindness can affect how a patient is socially and their coexistence with their families. It also affects how they participate, as well as how they move from one place to another, how they drive and read. |

Es de gran importancia que un paciente entienda su patología ocular, para así comprender cómo se presentan las alteraciones del funcionamiento visual que se le está generando, de acuerdo con la condición ocular que presenta. Para poder generar un tratamiento adecuado y acorde con las expectativas de los pacientes, siempre es necesario tener en cuenta su condición visual, para así poder plantear metas fijas y posibles, que se puedan lograr mediante la rehabilitación de baja visión y ceguera, para mejorar la salud visual. Actualmente, es importante y un deber, la entrega de información por parte del profesional en salud ya que cuando un paciente no tiene un adecuado entendimiento ni conocimiento de su condición visual, se pueden ver afectada la posibilidad de éxito en el tratamiento al que se va someter. Todas las alteraciones generadas por una condición ocular que producen baja visión y ceguera, pueden afectar la convivencia social y familiar de los pacientes, disminuyendo la participación, que se refleja en una discapacidad de la actividad, haciendo más difícil la autonomía de una persona como en trasladarse de un sitio a otro, moverse, conducir y lectura generando un pensamiento negativo de carga social.
