This paper seeks to determine the relationship between economic growth and inequality in income distribution in the 23 departments of Colombia and Bogotá in the period 2002-2018, through estimation by panel data, and the application of an econometric model using fixed coefficients, based on data collected from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). The main result is that the increase in income inequality has negative effects on economic growth in Colombia, which is why there is an inverse relationship between the variables studied.
In addition, an estimate was made to determine whether there is a relationship between income inequality and human capital in Colombia with data obtained from the Penn World Table (PWT), where it is found that a large stimulus in human capital generates greater increases in income that in turn manage to boost development levels and reduce inequality in a country, that is, education is perceived as a determinant of balance, and its expansion allows for the economic well-being of a country. |

América Latina es una de las regiones del mundo que se ha caracterizado por sus altos niveles de desigualdad en la distribución de los ingresos que reciben sus habitantes, ante esta problemática no es ajena la economía colombiana la cual cuenta con una gran concentración en la distribución por las brechas en el ingreso medio entre departamentos, y por la desigualdad que se da en la población dentro de las divisiones geográficas. En este trabajo se busca determinar la relación entre el crecimiento económico y la desigualdad en la distribución del ingreso en los 23 departamentos de Colombia y Bogotá en el periodo 2002-2018, mediante la estimación por datos panel, y la aplicación de un modelo econométrico donde se usan coeficientes fijos, basado en datos recopilados del Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE), y arroja como resultado principal que el aumento de las desigualdades del ingreso tiene efectos negativos en el crecimiento económico de Colombia, es por esto que existe una relación inversa entre las variables de estudio. Además, se realizó la estimación para determinar si existe relación entre la desigualdad del ingreso y el capital humano en Colombia con datos obtenidos de la Penn World Table (PWT), donde se encuentra que un gran estímulo en el capital humano genera mayores incrementos en los ingresos que a su vez logran impulsar los niveles de desarrollo y disminuir la desigualdad en un país, es decir que la educación es percibida como un determinante para el equilibrio, y su expansión permite el bienestar económico de un país.
