Description
Summary:The public space represents that place where the life of the cities develops; important moments of humanity have occurred in environments where crowds gather and share their ideas and their culture in general. However, today, people inhabit a public space that does not offer quality that no longer encourages or promotes that social cohesion. In order to determine and classify the quality of public space, it is necessary to have an evaluation system, and not only one available to professionals in the field, but also one that is understandable and intelligible to a greater number of people. In this way, the initiative was born, to adapt to the Colombian context, a system of indicators to evaluate the public space of and habitability, in a field of reference study, as in this case it will be the municipality of Espinal. El Espinal is a city that meets the information difficulties of many other medium or small cities, in the Colombian context or even in Latin America; that is why, it is intended to guide the reader, from understanding and classifying their urban environment, to applying the indicators, to clearly recognize what are those deficiencies or strengths that their public space has. The indicators to evaluate public space and habitability, address the variables of morphology, ergonomics, physiology and psychology, which are explained throughout this Degree Project.
