Sumario: | This study examines the logistical challenges and opportunities within the crude palm oil
logistics chain in Meta, Colombia, aiming to identify critical areas affecting the sector's global
competitiveness. Through a comparative analysis with other leading producing countries, such as
Indonesia and Malaysia, key factors like infrastructure, transportation costs, and the availability
of alternative routes were evaluated. Findings reveal that Meta's limited infrastructure and
reliance on a single route to export ports lead to high costs and prolonged transport times,
restricting the efficiency and competitive position of Colombian palm oil.
Based on these findings, various recommendations are proposed to optimize Meta's
export logistics. These include improving and diversifying transport routes, implementing
traceability technology to ensure product quality during distribution, and adopting sustainable
practices in transport operations. These measures would reduce logistical costs, increase
efficiency, and align production with international market sustainability demands, thus
strengthening Colombia’s position within the global palm oil value chain. |
