Sumario: | Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a lethal disease caused by feline enteric coronavirus
(FeCV), an RNA virus that, although it infects up to 90% of cats, only 5% develop it. This
disease is characterized by a systemic dissemination of macrophages and monocytes after the
mutation of the virus, the cause of which is not yet fully understood, although it has been
linked to the spike protein S of the virus. Currently, there are no approved vaccines or
treatments, although the nucleoside GS441524 has shown efficacy in recent studies. |
