Sumario:Abstract: The objective of the research was to identify the seismic vulnerability of the Simón Bolívar educational institution in Quimbaya, in the department of Quindío. To carry it out, a descriptive methodology with a mixed approach was chosen. Non-destructive tests, such as sclerometry, and destructive tests, such as core extraction tests, were used. In addition, a geotechnical study of the terrain and a detailed inspection were carried out to identify the vulnerable points of the structure, considering certain characteristics, such as cracks. and deflections. The results revealed significant deficiencies in the structural design, showing that several elements do not meet the requirements established in the NSR-10. The columns and beams had inadequate dimensions and it was found that the simple masonry used in some modules did not guarantee the required resistance to seismic events. The conclusions highlight the importance of an exhaustive seismic vulnerability analysis, since, despite the general good conservation of the infrastructure, the current design could be critical in the event of an earthquake. It is recommended to prepare a structural reinforcement plan following current regulations and continuous monitoring of the state of the building. This is essential to guarantee the safety of the educational community because the institution welcomes students, but it can also function as a refuge in case of emergencies.
