Description
Summary:Abstract: A road safety audit was conducted on the road connecting the municipality La Virginia (Risaralda) with the municipality Viterbo (Caldas) between kilometers 12+000 and 18+000. The audit aimed to identify critical points or areas with a higher probability of traffic accidents. A descriptive and quantitative methodology was used, which included historical data analysis, direct observation of road conditions, evaluation of road user behavior, and analysis of photographic records obtained during field visits. It was determined that the entire road presents a moderate risk level, with speeding being the main factor contributing to traffic accidents. Physical risks were identified, such as perpendicular entrances and exits without proper signage and drainage heads with excessive height. The road has adequate signage, but preventive maintenance is required.
