Summary:Objective: to describe nurse´s role in signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression in people living with HIV-AIDS. Methodology: narrative revision of literature with Whittemore y Knafl methodology, literature search was carried out in databases, using descriptors: “nurse´s role”, “HIV”, “AIDS”, “anxiety”, “depression”, “signs and symptoms”. Results: 135.636 articles were found, 12 were included applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Several nurse´s roles were described like caregiver role, role in diagnosis, researcher role and educator role, highlighting the importance of identifying patients with anxiety and depression and using NANDA, NOC and NIC tools to guide care to these symptoms. Conclusion: nurse´s role is full-s cale, nursing has tools to diagnosis and enforcement of a care plan according to the identified needs.
