The objective of this research is to delve into the convenience of using the dramatic technique called role-plays so that students acquire social skills and delve into the principles of global citizenship education (GCE) while developing oral skills in English. The research question is the following: Is role-plays an appropriate dramatic technique for students to develop their oral skills while advancing as global citizens? Methodology: The methodology is quantitative since it offers, on the one hand, the results of a rubric completed by the students and the teacher in her role as researcher during the teaching-learning process, and on the other hand, the results of a questionnaire in Google Forms that the students completed at the end of the semester. Results and discussion: The findings show that the students are aware that by participating in role-plays they not only develop oral skills, but also acquire social competences such as communication or cooperation. In addition, the fact that global topics are used in the role-plays allows to deepen the principles of the GCE. Conclusion: In conclusion, it should be noted that working with socially themed role-plays contributes to humanizing teaching and offering students a context in which to reflect on global issues that challenge society. |

Introducción: la educación universitaria ha de dar respuesta a las demandas sociales y ofrecer al alumnado una formación integral que vaya más allá de la adquisición de conocimientos. El objetivo de esta investigación es profundizar en la conveniencia de emplear la técnica dramática denominada role-plays para que el alumnado adquiera competencias sociales y profundice en los principios de la educación para la ciudadanía global (ECG) a la vez que desarrolla destrezas orales en inglés. La pregunta de investigación es esta: ¿es el role-plays una técnica dramática adecuada para que el alumnado desarrolle sus destrezas orales a la vez que avanza como ciudadanía global? Metodología: la metodología es cuantitativa, pues se ofrecen, por un lado, los resultados de una rúbrica completada por el alumnado y la docente en su rol de investigadora durante el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje; por otro, los resultados de un cuestionario en Google Forms que el alumnado completó al final del cuatrimestre. Resultados y discusión: los hallazgos muestran que el alumnado es consciente de que gracias a la participación en role-plays no solo desarrolla las destrezas orales, sino que también adquiere competencias sociales, como la comunicación o la cooperación. Además, el hecho de que se empleen temas globales en los role-plays le permite profundizar en los principios de la ECG.
