This article argues that artistic practices represent a particularly suggestive research field for the study of “restless places” in the contemporary city: limited spaces generated by the effects of globalization, “living” places rather than lived places, which usually generate creative and collaborative processes of habitat construction.

However, at the high studies level the subject area of “Engineering, Architecture, Urban and others” urban artistic practices are still not significant form of knowledge production and research. This article argues that artistic practices represent a particularly suggestive research field for the study of “restless places” in the contemporary city: limited spaces generated by the effects of globalization, “living” places rather than lived places, which usually generate creative and collaborative processes of habitat construction. En el marco de la educación superior, en Colombia se ha venido generado el reconocimiento de una cierta equivalencia entre investigación científica y creación artística. No obstante, a nivel de postgrado, en el área de conocimiento “Ingeniería, Arquitectura, Urbanística y afines”, las prácticas artísticas urbanas todavía no aparecen como una significativa forma de producción de conocimiento y de investigación. En cambio, la oferta de programas de postgrado a nivel internacional, relacionada con la misma área de conocimiento, opta cada vez más por planes curriculares flexibles, articulados e interdisciplinarios, que asimilan la ciudad a “territorios expandidos”, a estudiar combinando precisamente la investigación intelectual con la creación artística.
