Through in-depth semi-structured interviews, the experiences and meanings that these housewives, dedicated exclusively to the care of their young children and economically dependent on their husbands, attribute to their intensive maternal role were explored. El presente estudio cualitativo tuvo como objetivo principal describir los significados que adquiere la identidad femenina desde el ejercicio de la maternidad intensiva en un grupo de 10 mujeres de la ciudad de Bucaramanga. A través de entrevistas semiestructuradas a profundidad, se exploraron las vivencias y sentidos que estas mujeres amas de casa, dedicadas al cuidado exclusivo de sus hijos pequeños y dependientes económicamente de sus esposos, otorgan a su rol maternal intensivo.
