As a conclusion, the article states that journalistic chronicles are a valuable source of non-visual information that allow the observation of some city aspects that are impossible to spot from within the traditional referencing of plans and photographs in architectural and urban discourses. |

El artículo elabora un análisis de la ciudad de Bogotá a partir de crónicas y fotografías publicadas en la revista Cromos, entre los años 1916 y 1920, haciendo énfasis en las significaciones y repercusiones que las estructuras urbanas tienen sobre sus habitantes, como método de investigación que complementa los análisis realizados por la historia convencional de la arquitectura y la ciudad. Se estudia la vida urbana que retrataron los más destacados periodistas de aquella época, destacando los avances en cuanto a arquitectura y movilidad, la problemática que representaba la carencia de agua potable y la deficiencia de los servicios municipales, los incendios de los edificios más emblemáticos de la ciudad, el hambre de sus pobladores y las enfermedades que los afectaban, o la llegada de la modernidad, entre otras cosas. Se concluye, entre otras cosas, que las crónicas periodísticas son valiosas fuentes de información, no visuales, que permiten observar aspectos de la historia de las ciudades imposibles de analizar desde las fuentes habituales de la arquitectura y la ciudad, como los planos y las fotografías.
