El artículo presenta una aproximación a la evolución histórica de los parques de Bogotá, basado en el análisis del desarrollo urbano de la ciudad, desde su fundación, hasta el siglo XXI. Se describe la aparición, la evolución y la situación actual de los parques de la ciudad, que hoy en día forman parte de la Estructura Ecológica Principal de Bogotá; haciendo énfasis en las aves nativas y migratorias que actualmente los frecuentan, y en algunas de las especies de arbustos y árboles que las alimentan.
