El artículo busca establecer las características fundamentales de la memoria colectiva de los habitantes de los barrios del Cerro del Cable en Bogotá, enfocándose en la relación que existe entre la memoria colectiva y la configuración de una identidad barrial en la que, la apropiación del territorio del cerro y la experiencia del oficio común de la alfarería tienen un lugar determinante. Desde esta perspectiva, el artículo explora temas como los inicios del poblamiento del cerro, la construcción de los barrios, los esfuerzos colectivos por mejorar los espacios y servicios comunales, la introducción de la comunidad en la industria alfarera, las diferentes fases de producción del ladrillo y las condiciones laborales de los trabajadores alfareros.
