It is concluded that the cables transport systems and their various types, present adequate support against the mechanisms and strategies that make plans for sustainable urban mobility in cities, showing the main advantages being effective, safe, comfortable, fast systems and with significant benefits to the environment, an alternative that could contribute to improving the conditions of urban mobility in the cities of Latin America. |

Se presenta una abstracción acerca del desarrollo de la movilidad en las ciudades y de los sistemas de transporte por cables, su origen y evolución, sus características y su coherencia con las nuevas tendencias globales y políticas en materia de movilidad urbana. Se hace una descripción de las principales ventajas de éste tipo de sistemas las cuales se resaltan mediante la presentación de casos ejemplares en el marco global y latinoamericano. Se concluye que los sistemas de transporte por cables y sus diversos tipos, presentan una adecuada compatibilidad frente a los mecanismos y estrategias que componen los planes de movilidad urbana sostenible en las ciudades, mostrando como principales ventajas el ser sistemas eficientes, seguros, cómodos, rápidos, y con importantes beneficios en el medio ambiente, aspectos que proveen un excelente panorama para la solución del problema de movilidad urbana en las ciudades de Latinoamérica.
