Description
Summary:This research focuses on the historical and legal role of women in relation to violence and lack of access to justice in a context of war that has been ongoing for decades. To achieve this, the research adopted a mixed and descriptive approach that combines a review of academic, jurisprudential, and regulatory sources with semi-structured interviews, in order to gather the direct and indirect experiences of women in the conflict.  The findings reveal that women are immersed in a complex double burden, being the target of crimes against humanity such as sexual violence and abuse, while paradoxically using the armed conflict to escape the traditional patterns imposed on them in their homes and to seek autonomy and freedom. To contribute to the country's historical memory, the research seeks to highlight the efforts of various actors and to ensure the proper administration of justice in Colombia for women, together with peacebuilding based on resilience.
