| description | Introduction: What is the impact of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method on the acquisition of language skills in ESL students? Methodology: A total of 80 previous studies were found, and 55 were reviewed qualitatively, located in Elsevier, Google Scholar, Scielo, ScienceDirect and ResearchGate, such review consisted in the collection and analysis of data about the application of the method, highlighting as results the effectiveness and possible challenges that may arise. The studies were classified according to the categories of “English at an early age”, “Language acquisition using the TPR method”, “English in adolescents”, “Development of macro skills”, and “TPR as a methodological strategy”. Results: The results of the literature review showed that the TPR method is effective in the early stages of learning English because it allows direct association between words and actions, which increases retention and decreases anxiety, but it also has certain limitations for students at advanced levels. Discussion: The TPR method has a positive impact on the learning of English as a second language, since it facilitates vocabulary acquisition and promotes a dynamic and motivating environment, even so, a balanced implementation of TPR together with other methods that complement learning at different or advanced levels is suggested. |

Se ha comprobado que el uso del TPR mediante comandos físicos vinculados a conceptos lingüísticos facilita la retención, comprensión y motivación de los estudiantes a la hora de aprender un nuevo idioma, contribuyendo a una experiencia más natural y menos estresante. Metodología: 80 estudios previos fueron encontrados y 55 revisados de manera cualitativa, localizados en Elsevier, Google Scholar, Scielo, ScienceDirect y ResearchGate. Esta revisión constó en la recopilación y el análisis de datos sobre la aplicación del método, destacando como resultados la efectividad y los posibles desafíos que se pueden presentar. Los estudios fueron clasificados según las categorías de “El inglés en edad temprana”, “Adquisición del idioma mediante el método TPR”, “El inglés en adolescentes”, “Desarrollo de las macros skills” y “TPR como estrategia metodológica”. Resultados: Los resultados de la revisión bibliográfica mostraron que el método TPR es eficaz en etapas iniciales del aprendizaje del inglés, ya que permite la asociación directa entre palabras y acciones, lo cual incrementa la retención y disminuye la ansiedad, pero también presenta ciertas limitaciones para estudiantes de niveles avanzados. Discusión: El método TPR tiene un impacto positivo en el aprendizaje del idioma inglés como segunda lengua, ya que facilita la adquisición de vocabulario y promueve un ambiente dinámico y motivador. Pese a esto, se sugiere una implementación equilibrada de TPR junto con otros métodos que complementen el aprendizaje en niveles distintos o avanzados. O uso do TPR com comandos físicos vinculados a conceitos linguísticos facilita a retenção, compreensão e motivação dos estudantes ao aprenderem um novo idioma, proporcionando uma experiência mais natural e menos estressante. Metodologia: foram encontrados 80 estudos prévios e 55 analisados de forma qualitativa, localizados em bases como Elsevier, Google Scholar, Scielo, ScienceDirect e ResearchGate. Resultados: a revisão mostrou que o TPR é eficaz em fases iniciais do aprendizado do inglês, permitindo associação direta entre palavras e ações, aumentando a retenção e diminuindo a ansiedade, embora apresente limitações para níveis avançados. Discussão: o TPR tem impacto positivo na aprendizagem do inglês como segunda língua, pois facilita a aquisição de vocabulário e promove um ambiente dinâmico e motivador.
