Colombian constitutional history is one of the most forgotten and devalued issues today, over the years we find constitutional gaps in the different eras of what was an extensive process to advance as a country in Constitutional law. It is vitally important that the Colombian people know their history, their constitutional process, the change of thought and ideologies over the years and their transitory struggle to become a free and independent nation. This article was made with the intention of exposing an important part of the valuable and precious Colombian history regarding the constitutionalist process, with the purpose of capturing various characteristic events that happened in 1819 inside and outside the congress of narrowness, reflect those discussions that were held in order to resolve what would be the appropriate Political System to govern in the nascent Republic of Colombia, resolving between centralism and federalism, whose decision together with the creation of the constitution of Cucuta of 1821 specified the constitutionalist course to follow and thus marked the Colombian constitutional history. |

La historia constitucional colombiana es uno de los temas más olvidados y desvalorizados en la actualidad, a lo largo de los años encontramos vacíos constitucionales en las diferentes épocas de lo que fue un proceso extenso para avanzar como país en el derecho constitucional. Es de vital importancia que el pueblo colombiano conozca su historia, su proceso constitucional, el cambio de pensamiento y de ideologías a lo largo de los años y su transitoria lucha por lograr ser una nación libre e independiente. Este artículo se realizó con la intención de exponer una parte importante de la valiosa y preciada historia colombiana respecto al proceso constitucionalista, teniendo como fin plasmar diversos hechos característicos que sucedieron en 1819 dentro y fuera del congreso de angosturas, reflejar aquellas discusiones que se realizaron con el fin de resolver cual sería el sistema político adecuado para regir en la naciente república de Colombia, resolviendo entre el centralismo y el federalismo, cuya decisión junto a la creación de la constitución de Cúcuta de 1821 precisó el rumbo constitucionalista a seguir y marcó así la historia constitucional colombiana.
