Este artículo resume los hallazgos encontrados en un estudio realizado con profesores de matemáticas, de nivel secundario, de escuelas públicas y privadas en Puerto Rico. El principal objetivo es comprender y caracterizar la visión que tienen los profesores de matemáticas de Puerto Rico acerca de las competencias matemáticas y la participación de sus estudiantes en las mismas. El estudio pretende analizar el impacto que las competencias de matemáticas tienen en los profesores y sus estudiantes como parte de las estrategias de enseñanza-aprendizaje. En el estudio participaron 213 profesores de distintas regiones de la Isla.
