This coating served as protection for walls built on the same land as the wall, the adobe or the bahareque with which it is considered to be built at least 90% of the historic centers of our country. For its development, the behavior of the different components such as soil, stabilizers, additives, binders and water must be taken into account. However, in Colombia there are few studies that determine the characteristics of these finishes in heritage buildings. That is why it is proposed in this article to inquire about the state of the art about the study of mortars on land, which allows us to approach and have the theoretical basis to carry out the characterization and behavior studies of these, so that they respond not only to the needs of restaurateurs, but to those who are interested in its application in current buildings. |

Los revestimientos cumplen la función de proteger al muro de soporte de los agentes exógenos que lo puedan afectar y degradar. En el ámbito del patrimonio uno de los morteros más usados hasta finales del siglo XVIII en Colombia, era el revestimiento con base a tierra. Este revestimiento servía de protección para muros construidos en la misma tierra como la tapia, el adobe o el bahareque con el que se considera están construidos por lo menos el 90% de los centros históricos de nuestro país. Para su desarrollo se debe tener en cuenta el comportamiento de los diferentes componentes como tierra, estabilizantes, aditivos, aglutinantes y agua. Sin embargo, en Colombia son pocos los estudios que permiten determinar las características de estos acabados en construcciones patrimoniales. Es por esto que se propone en el presente artículo indagar por el estado del arte sobre el estudio de los morteros en tierra, que permita aproximarnos y tener las bases teóricas para realizar los estudios de caracterización y comportamiento de éstos, de manera que respondan no solo a las necesidades de los restauradores, sino a aquellos que están interesados en su aplicación en edificaciones actuales.
