As a result, the article aims towards a meditation about the role of theory during the design conception; both as primary source to elaborate an architectural critic, and as a reliable instrument to pass judgment on the aesthetic contribution of buildings up to now mistakenly called unidentified flying objects. Sin la espectacularidad que caracteriza a los proyectos construidos en otras partes del mundo a partir del denominado posmodernismo, durante el mismo lapso de tiempo, en las grandes ciudades colombianas se ha gestado un cambio sutil en el lenguaje arquitectónico que, a diferencia de sus progenitores, parece reticente a cualquier catalogación a pesar de evidenciar la influencia de distintas tendencias internacionales, debido principalmente a la ausencia de un discurso teórico por parte de los proyectistas. A partir de este punto, el artículo busca generar una reflexión acerca de la importancia de la teoría en la labor proyectiva, tanto como fuente primigenia para elaborar una crítica, como herramienta de juicio para poder calificar los edificios como objetos no identificados.
