Summary: | The process of teaching and learning mathematics is a fundamental part of the training of a Naval Engineer, whose specific subjects require solid knowledge of mathematical content. This research is developed at the Almirante Naval Cadet School (ENAP), where students must respond to military naval training and university training. However, in the teaching-learning process of mathematics, difficulties arise related to students´ mathematical conceptual bases when taking the subjects that involve the theory of the ship, a high rate of traditional pedagogical practices, limited bases of representation and visualization, students´ little interest and motivation in university mathematical content, among others. In the research, a didactic model is built based on the resolution of contextual problems, mathematical modeling and visualization for the teachinglearning process of the mathematical contents of Ship Stability in ENAP students. The research methodology assumes a qualitative paradigm, with a qualitative approach. The theoretical contribution is the creation of the didactic model to promote mathematical thinking in problems related to Ship Stability in Naval Engineering students and the progress in the characterization of the mathematical thinking involved in solving problems related to Ship Stability. The implementation of the activity system shows the development of mathematical thinking, students´motivation and the robust construction of mathematical content for solving problems in the context of Ship Stability. |
