La educación financiera permite adquirir nuevos conocimientos, herramientas, habilidades en materia económica y financiera, con el fin de que cualquier persona pueda tomar decisiones en relación a finanzas personales, familiares o de ámbito organizacional. Por tanto, este proyecto se centró principalmente en analizar el nivel de educación financiera de los estudiantes de grado 10° y 11° del Instituto Técnico Santo Tomas de Aquino e Institución Educativa Guillermo León Valencia de la ciudad de Duitama, para ello, fue necesario identificar las competencias financieras que establece el Ministerio de Educación Nacional para posteriormente realizar el diagnóstico y de acuerdo a los resultados plantear estrategias con el fin de contribuir al mejoramiento de conocimiento y habilidades financieras de los estudiantes y de cada una de las instituciones objeto de estudio, se realizó bajo una metodología de tipo descriptivo con enfoque mixto y el principal hallazgo fue que los estudiantes se encuentran en el nivel más básico lo cual indica que tienen un alto grado de deficiencia sobre educación financiera.
