description	The production of yellow pitahaya is increasingly gaining ground as an exotic fruit for export in Colombia; here the target markets have as a criterion the size of the fruit, which is why in the field days this activity is done manually leading to errors in the classification processes, which are evidenced by the rates of return by size, which in the Finca La Perdomo is 4.7% of the total production; to adjust this deviation, the construction of a yellow pitahaya sorting machine by size was proposed; For its development, this project was planned in stages, starting with the criteria defined by the producer, design of the prototype, construction and evaluation of the machine; The results showed that the sizes to be classified are larger and smaller than 8 cm, which are selected from a circular device or hopper which by slow centrifugal movement allows the selection inside the prototype, this operates with a motor of 0.25 Hp and its payload is 80 kg including the weight of the reducer, it is concluded that at design level the conditions of maximum force are met, since this value is 16.59 Mpa and the maximum displacement is a maximum of 0.36 mm. 36mm; according to the safety factor, the machine does not represent a risk of shearing in any of the components.

La producción de Pitahaya amarilla cada vez gana terreno como fruta exótica de exportación en Colombia; aquí los mercados destino tienen como criterio el tamaño de la fruta, razón por la cual en las jornadas de campo este actividad se realiza de forma manual lo que conllevan a errores en los procesos de clasificación, los cuales se evidencian por las tasas de devolución por tamaño, la cual en la Finca La Perdomo es del 4,7% sobre el total de la producción; para ajustar esta desviación se propuso la construcción de una máquina clasificadora de Pitahaya amarilla por tamaño; para su desarrollo, este proyecto se planifico por etapas las cuales inician con los criterios definidos por el productor, diseño del prototipo, la construcción y la evaluación del mimo; los resultados mostraron que los tamaños a clasificar son mayores y menores a 8 cm, los cuales se seleccionan a partir de un dispositivo circular o tolva de captación mediante movimiento centrifuga que permite la selección al interior del prototipo, este opera con un motor de 0,25 Hp y su carga útil es de 80 Kg incluido el peso del reductor, se concluye que a nivel de diseño se cumplen las condiciones de esfuerzo máximo, dado que este valor es de 16,59 Mpa y el desplazamiento máximo es de 0.36mm; la máquina según el factor de seguridad no representa riesgo de cizallamiento en sus componentes estructurales.
