Summary: | COVID-19 was declared a pandemic; this virus called SARS -CoV-2 is transmitted from an
infected person to another person, through small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak
or breathe, during dental procedures that produce aerosols in closed areas with poor ventilation;
This ease of spread is a cause for concern due to the high risk of acquiring the disease on the part
of health professionals, as they are directly exposed to greater contact with oral fluids such as
saliva and blood; therefore, biosafety and infection control measures are based on protocols
where discipline and commitment are required for compliance with COVID-19 biosafety
standards by the oral health profession. |
