description | Propolis is produced by honeybees from the resins and balsams of plants and
characterized by its complex chemical composition. Bees use propolis to protect the hive,
to seal holes and to avoid infectious diseases that may affect bee health. Humans have
used propolis for medicinal purposes since ancient times, and its effectiveness as an
antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, antiparasitic, and antitumor agent has been
demonstrated recently. |
