Summary:	The main objective of this research work is to determine the participation of the Colombian sugar sector and its impact on the productive dynamics of Colombia during the 2010 period - 2020, while it is expected to determine the performance of the trade balance of this agroindustrial sector. The Colombian sugar sector has adequate geographical and climatic conditions for its cultivation and continuous harvesting throughout the year, the main department that stands out for the cultivation of this product is the department of Valle del Cauca with an estimated area of cultivation of 225,560 hectares planted. These characteristics give this territory a competitive advantage over other regions of the world.
