Esta investigación nace de la necesidad por sintetizar la información existente sobre el Síndrome Abdominal Agudo (SAA) en equinos, siendo este la causa principal de muertes en este tipo de animales en los casos en que no se diagnostica de manera oportuna, por lo que analizar el estado del arte del (SAA), sus causas, los factores predisponentes, los signos, los métodos de diagnóstico y los tratamientos disponibles, aportaría a un mejor entendimiento y manejo de dicha afección por parte de los profesionales involucrados en el cuidado de estos animales. A través de la revisión bibliográfica realizada en diversas bases de datos especializadas y no especializadas, se han recopilado estudios que tratan la temática desde diferentes perspectivas, arrojando como resultado una serie de categorías esenciales que posibilitan un entendimiento sencillo de este fenómeno.
