Reading is an activity that starts from a very early age, this process opens the doors for education and writing that are important processes in the formation intellectual property of people (Valencia, 2004). There are different types of reading such as the literal, inferential and critical level, which tend to adapt to the needs of the reader, for example, a deep reading requires greater concentration and attention by part of the reader, while a speed reading seeks to detect important parts of a text and not deepen. There are these three levels in reading (literal, inferential and critical), but this work is focuses on addressing critical reading, on how to strengthen the processes to develop it in young people since reading critically and consciously helps the person to discover the historical, social, economic, and cultural context of the texts, places, and people about which which is read Critical reading allows access to critical thinking, which fulfills a fundamental role in the formation of self-aware and responsible citizens themselves and about others.

Iniciar en la lectura es de vital importancia al momento de querer tener posición frente a algunos temas, puesto que la lectura y más el leer críticamente hace que el estudiante o quien lea pueda adquirir una mirada sobre algún tema en específico. Permite también analizar desde distintas aristas el lenguaje y la forma de percibir y entender el mundo. Influye en cómo se identifica una realidad social de una manera contextualizada, siendo esto algo indispensable para entender un texto (Vivanco, 2018). La lectura es una actividad que inicia desde una edad muy temprana, este proceso abre las puertas para la educación y la escritura que son procesos importantes en la formación intelectual de las personas (Valencia, 2004). Existen diferentes tipos de lectura tales como el nivel literal, inferencial y crítico, los cuales tienden a adaptarse a las necesidades del lector, por ejemplo, una lectura profunda requiere mayor concentración y atención por parte de quien lee, mientras que una lectura rápida busca detectar partes importantes de un texto y no profundizar. Existen estos tres niveles en la lectura (literal, inferencial y crítico), pero este trabajo se enfoca en abordar la lectura crítica, en cómo fortalecer los procesos para desarrollarla en los jóvenes dado que, leer crítica y conscientemente ayuda a la persona a descubrir el contexto histórico, social, económico y cultural de los textos, lugares y personas sobre los que se lee. La lectura crítica permite acceder al pensamiento crítico, el cual cumple un papel fundamental en la formación de ciudadanos conscientes y responsables sobre sí mismos y sobre otros.
